Get ready for some damn good coffee, backward-talking dwarfs, and generally strange goings on in the Pacific Northwest, because Twin Peaks is coming back. After a couple of cryptic tweets from co-creators David Lynch and Mark Frost over the weekend, it has been confirmed that the iconic TV series will return in 2016. A nine-episode season will be shot sometime next year and will be broadcast the following year on Showtime. Lynch will direct all nine episodes.
Actor Kyle MacLachlan will reprise the role of FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper, and it is hoped that other original members of the cast will also return. Frost says the new series will be set in the present day, and will be “the next chapter of the story.” “For those followers of the show who felt bereft when the show ended where it did all those years ago are going to like where it goes from here,” Frost assured. “And we hope that a lot of people who haven’t been to Twin Peaks yet are going to be equally interested in where the story goes from where we left off.” The original series ended its run in 1991. After almost 25 years, is the pie still damn good?

I am sorry to say that I will not be eagerly anticipating the 2016 series Niall. Why can’t they leave good enough alone? I am becoming more and more remote from these things. Frustrated by copycat, cheap productions, and cashing in. Let’s see something new, instead of a re-hash of past excellence.
