The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Trailer Looks Like Fun

????????

Guy Ritchie has made a movie of The Man from U.N.C.L.E., the smooth 1960ps spy caper.

In case you’re too young to know  of the TV series, it starred Robert Vaughn and David McCallum as a pair of spies – one American, one Russian – who team up and work for U.N.C.L.E.:  The United Network Command for Law and Enforcement

The spy series was high on camp and it was very much of its time – girls, guns and swagger – and it made stars of Vaughn and McCallum

Based on the trailer, it looks like it might actually be a lot of fun. Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer star. The filmmakers have made, I think, the clever move not to update the show to the 21st century.

Expect a lot of Mad Men-like cocktails, dapper suits, swinging jazz and sexism.

Sales of tweed caps and scooters might soar.

Will Ritchie have as much success with this as he did with the Sherlock Holmes movies?

  1. (BTW, Your ‘Gone Girl’ post disappeared somewhere Niall.)
As usual, I’m not sure that a remake was necessary, but I agree that it looks pretty stylish, and hopefully will keep the spirit of the original. (Not that I will be watching it, either way.)
    Cheers mate. Pete.
