After five seasons, I’m probably done with The Walking Dead.
The series is getting a little too soap opera-ish in its storytelling. It’s no longer just about people trying to survive a zombie apocalypse, and an already unsubtle series has become extremely heavy-handed, telegraphing all of its emotional beats, and replacing interesting characters with cardboard cutouts.
The show’s spinoff, however, Fear The Walking Dead, begins in August, and based only on this teaser, I’m willing to give it a go.
The show’s other great selling feature for me is its cast, which includes Cliff Curtis, Kim Dickens, and Rubén Blades.

I just wrote about Whale Rider last weekend for a Beach movie blogathon, and of course, Cliff Curtis is in that film. I wasn’t going to tune in to this spin-off, but now I think I will.

I love that film. I was very excited to see Keisha Castle-Hughes in this season of “Game of Thrones” but she didn’t really get to do very much, unfortunately. I love Cliff Curtis in just about everything I’ve ever seen him in.

Haven’t seen it since they were captured inside the containers, and it went to satellite TV here. I like Ruben Blades though, and hope that the spin-off makes it to mainstream TV.
Best wishes, Pete.

The spin-off takes place at the same time as The Walking Dead but is set in LA, so you don’t need to be caught up with the other show at all
