There was a pretty big moment that happened in Ireland earlier this year.
Maybe you heard about it.
One of the most vocal campaigners for marriage equality in Ireland was drag queen Panti Bliss (aka Rory O’Neill).
Panti’s life and reluctant political activism is now the subject of a documentary, The Queen of Ireland
The documentary is directed by Conor Horgan, who made the excellent low-key post-apocalyptic drama One Hundred Mornings.
The Queen of Ireland opens in Irish cinemas on October 21st. It will be screened on RTE later in the year.
Looks really good, Niall. I expect Channel 4 might pick this one up for UK TV viewing.
Best wishes, Pete.
