Let the orgy of campaigning and back-slapping begin.
This morning the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the nominations for the 2016 Academy Awards.
Among the expected nominees are Leonardo DiCaprio, Cate Blanchett, Brie Larson, Saoirse Ronan, and Sylvester Stallone.
Surprises include Lenny Abrahamon’s nomination as Best Director for Room (it is also up for Best Picture, and my old college pal Emma Donoghue is nominated for adapting her best-selling novel).
Tom Hardy is up for Best Supporting Actor for The Revenant. Ridley Scott was snubbed even though his film The Martian secured several nominations, including Best Picture

DiCaprio for sure. As for everything else, I have no idea just yet – mind you, I have yet to see several of the films
