You might think this is ridic, but it’s actually dench.
Scrabble has added lotsa words to its dictionary – 6500 in all. Don’t go all grr or blech when you realize that the new words include twerking, emoji and thanx. After all, YOLO. Among the newbs are the high-scoring hacktivist (22 points) and checkbox (28 points).
The board game’s dictionary needed updating because slang usage has increased dramatically. “Dictionaries have always included formal and informal English, but it used to be hard to find printed evidence of the use of slang words,” commented Collins’ Helen Newstead, who helped compile the new Scrabble dictionary. “Now people use slang in social media posts, tweets, blogs, comments, text messages – you name it – so there’s a host of evidence for informal varieties of English that simply didn’t exist before.”
Social media, of course, means more facetime for you and your bezzy. Obvs. I mean, the tweeps try to keep it cazh, especially when they”re showrooming for some new tuneage or a shootie. So there’s no need for you to waah. Yeesh! You don’t like it? Go live in a quinzhee.
