I quite enjoyed the first one, and have no memory of the second one at all (I know Cumberbatch was in it, but can’t recall much beyond that).
The new movie features Idris Elba as the villain, and was written by Simon Pegg.
Justin Lin takes over directing duties from JJ Abrams, who was busy with a little thing called Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Idris Elba, great as Luther on TV. With Pegg writing, it would have been nice if it was a deliberate spoof-comedy, like Hot Fuzz. (To be honest, I doubt I will watch it anyway, as I haven’t watched any since the Nimoy/Shatner days.)
